Daddy's Week
The events you are about to read are Harper and Nic alone for a week while Mommy worked.
Day 1:
Five minutes into my day at work I receive a text that says "911 call me!"Now this is not the first time Nic has text me this and it wasn't a 911 so I wasn't too alarmed. And it being his first day alone with Harper and me being a concerned first time mother I knew he was going to play this prank on me at least once. But I called him back because, you know, concerned mother. I call him and he says "She won't stop crying. I've tried everything but you just fed her before you left so can I feed her again or is it too soon?" I walked him through her first break down and he fed her again. Crises averted. However, he did have a successful trip to the grocery store alone with her, which is something I have yet to attempt. So kudos. Later that day I get a text message that says something along the lines of "She shit herself so bad, and when I was changing her it was like a lava cannon and shot everywhere." I warned him in advance to have a diaper ready when changing her, especially after a poop as its unpredictable if she's really done or not. But he did accomplish to have dinner ready for me when I got home from work which I give kudos for that as well. He also wants me to mention that while grocery shopping he got hit on by a bunch of old ladies because Harper is so cute.
Day 2:
"She slept like 5 hours straight and then we binged on Jersey Shore."-Nic
Day 3:
This day was tantrum day. Apparently she wouldn't stop crying. He fed her and she vomited quite a bit. Cried some more. Nic did accomplish a walk to the park with Harper and the dog. Again something I dare not attempt. It didn't go perfectly as Morty yanked his leash causing Nic to spill his tea on Harper. The walk did put her to sleep only for her to wake up crying as soon as they got home. Nic got her to fall asleep on him and he texts me that he cannot move, he is stuck. Eventually he moved her and attempted ANOTHER, yes another grocery trip. Who does this guy think he is? Two grocery trips alone with a 2 month old! Unheard of. This trip however, almost ended with them running out of gas. Nic thought he had enough to get to the store and back but he ended up coasting into the gas station barely making it. Oh and his phone was dead. So that could have been bad.
Day 4:
Nic and Harper came to visit me at work. We went out to get lunch and decided to park and eat. While Harper is eating I can tell she is pooping. I'm giving her some time to wrap most of it up before I change her. However, her shit leaked out of the top of her pants and onto my hand. I scream at Nic to come grab her before it gets all over my work clothes since I do not have a change of clothes and can't afford to run home to change or to go home for the day. He runs around to the other side of the car and grabs her, he's holding her like she's rolled around in dog poop. I assess the damage as I get out of the car and somehow only managed to get poop on the seat. As I attempt to clean her up Nic points out I have poop all over my pants. Oh well. At this point poop is everywhere and and her diaper bag is strewn about the parking lot as we try to clean her in the front seat of the car. It took 4 diapers before she was done. And luckily she was done as that was the last diaper Nic had in her diaper bag. I soaked my pants with water and went back to work. I managed to get the poop visibly out of my pants and finished the day. That was eventful.
Day 5:
Nic picked up his uncle from the airport and the three of them strolled the grocery store YET AGAIN. They got hit on and got all the attention as Harper is a babe magnet apparently. It was just old bitties complimenting Harpers hair but I am sure they would tell the story differently.
And that is a week in the life of Harper and Nic.
